The monkey moves a joystick to set its bid. When its bid exceeds or equals the compter bid, the monkey wins the auction, gets the reward, and pays from its water endowment. When its bid is below the computer bid, the monkey loses the auction and keeps the water endowment.

The dopamine response follows the monkey's bids and the reward amount.
